I am ill, cold, coughing, tired and fed up. I need comfort food.

Suggestions please! Can send DH out into the wilds 😂

We had homemade beef in beer stew with cheese and mustard dumplings, mash, savoy cabbage and peas for dinner. The stew had loads of root veggies - turnips, swede and carrots. I’m about to hit the sofa for a carbo-loaded insulin slump. 😄

The question is do you have the energy to cook or have someone to cook for you?

TheRookie · 16/11/2022 18:51

That sounds unreal, might make a stew at the weekend but no time tonight unfortunately!

Absolutely no energy to cook, DH is here and he can do it but not for loads of time either! Quick comfort meals/takeaways are going to key here I think.

Left to my own devices, I'd have cereal and call it a night...

Quick foods I like two soft poached or fried eggs on some crispy ready made hash browns with sauce of your choice ( I like sriracha)

fried egg, chips and buttered bread

cheese on toast with Worcester sauce , tin of Heinz sauce on the side

baked spud (just get the microwave ones lol) with beans and cheese

neverendinglauaundry · 16/11/2022 18:54

M&S best ever Mac & cheese if you are too ill to cook. It's so so nice mmmm

Blueeyedgirl21 · 16/11/2022 18:54

If you really can’t face cooking a tin of soup with buttered white bread and a hot drink and pint of apple juice

Egg and chips you say... Think that might be exactly what the doctor ordered! Might even throw in a sausage, call me crazy 🤣

I am pretty certain all good supermarkets sell ready meal beef stew. My aim was to provide inspiration. 😉

Sorry you're feeling unwell. I was ill over the weekend and earlier this week. My comfort foods of choice were -

Soup with hot, crusty bread
Bagels with butter and marmite
Jacket potato, butter and beans
Hot buttered crumpets

All the carbs, basically!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 16/11/2022 19:21

Scrambled egg on toast or fresh soup or toastie

TheRookie · 16/11/2022 19:49

Lots of great ill meals here. We went for sausage, egg and chips. Bonus being no one needed to go to the shops 🤣

Tonight I had tea and toasted soda farls with loads of real butter.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 16/11/2022 19:53

Scrambled egg sandwich. I know, it sounds weird. But white bread, butter, and soft hot scrambled egg - it's all squidgy and warm and like a hug.

Pebblebeach15 · 16/11/2022 19:56

Heinz tomato soup with floating chunks of white bread thrown in to soak ( pobs) .

disconnecteddrifter · 16/11/2022 20:18

I just had 3 packets of salt and vinegar squares for dinner. Hadn't had them for years and they hit the spot

BamBamBilla · 16/11/2022 20:34
