I work as a nanny. The parents booked me ages ago for extra over the Halloween break. They wanted me to move in and be 24/7 with the kids while they go away on holidays. I agreed. I thought extra money in the lead up to Christmas would be useful.
3 weeks on and I never got paid properly. I thought a payment might come my way but it didn't. I got paid the normal regular pay but nothing extra.
I worked from Sunday to Sunday. They had another lady booked to relieve me for some hours but to be honest half of the time she was useless and hardly came to me. I would be up from bed with one of the children at 5 or 6 or 7. I would have to work from then. The other lady came to me but some days she didn't come until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I would have had the guts of about 8 or 9 or 10 hours done at the time. That was only a break for me. I would still have to work in the evenings and night time too and work on chores that build up. My work days were long.
I got paid the normal regular pay of 400 for the week but nothing extra. The see the schedule for the remainder of the week and the Christmas parties has started. They never booked me for anything extra but I presume they will expect me to stay late or work extra at the weekend. This is usually it in the lead up to Christmas. The parents will place more focus on parties every week than giving me some time off. I feel angry and pissed off because they never paid me properly while they jetted off abroad on a child free holiday.
That schedule was never in my contract by the way. My contract stated Monday to Friday work with some extra required sometimes. I never realised that aspect was going to be abused.
I was really banking on an extra payment for that week. The only bonus I got was migraines.
