I keep seeing black Friday sales is it this week? Or I thought it was the one after thanksgiving? I never know when it is

I think offers pop up earlier and earlier each year in the rush to grab custom ahead of the main event/before competitors release their offers later on.

Technically I think the 'main event' is Friday the 25th, but case in point I have just seen that Amazon are starting their black friday 'event' on the 18th and stretching it out a whole week.

IMO it makes the whole thing a bit overwhelming and impossible to know you are ever getting the best deal. I only ever buy things on Black Friday that I have held off buying and know I legitimately need ( or which are for planned xmas gifts if they go on offer) and will be comparing prices with some scrutiny to compare to what I know they can usually be bought for- eg I absolutely need to replace my vacuum cleaner so need to get one anyway, therefore will be hoping the one's I already want will have an offer on somewhere.

High street stores are horrendous for artificially inflating prices so they can drop them for black friday, they do it every year and last time the things I wanted to buy were give or take the same price as they usually are except with a huge banner highlighting the discount as off of RRP.

Yes it's putting me off tbh. I liked it when it was just the day but I guess it's handy with royal mail strikes
