How would anyone have hard numbers?

When I was working almost everyone in the office was on their second marriage. The first marriage had always ended with cheating with the second partner. None of them were cheating on their second partner though.

It all depends on what one defines as cheating...

I don't know how 'hard numbers' would even be possible. How much something actually happens relative to how much it is lied about or not admitted to is impossible to say.

I know a number of people who have cheated, some more than once and am quite jaded from my time working in a department store where there were a good number of grim workplace affairs going on at any given time. Most of them were married and having an affair with a junior colleague (with a high ratio of those being older men having an affair with a much younger woman). It was pretty brazen and I often wondered how their spouses never found out, clearly nobody told them despite it all being common knowledge.

Sadly way too common!

I don't think it would be possible to ever get accurate figures, because some people would NEVER admit to it!
