Anyone been to Highclere Castle recently? It's £££, but is it worth it?..

Hi,

Just that really. Just hears that Highclere have opened their doors again, but at £130 per ticket!! 🤑🫣 It's for a special birthday for a Downton Abbey super fan, so if that's for a proper tour, including refreshments, which it says it is, it's perhaps....worth it (?)

Be great to hear your experiences.

TIA 😊

I would love to go and take my MIL who always mentions it as one of her wishes. It is impossible to get tickets so I would say if you have found a slot to just go with it! The tour is supposed to be excellent

I've only done the normal tour - can't you just wait and do that? Looks like you can book it already from April onwards. It's £22.50 without the Egyptian exhibition, which I wouldn't bother with unless you're particularly interested in ancient egypt.

I can't see that the winter tour which is the £130 one is worth 6 times the price, looking at it the only differences are that it's 'guided' and includes refreshments, which you could buy at the tearoom there much more cheaply anyway! The gardens were one of the nicest parts when I went, and I'd imagine would be much nicer in spring/summer than in the depths of winter anyway!
