Okay here me out... I have been offered a job that allows me to choose if I want full or part time hrs. Currently I do 3 days which is great however new job is a different sector (and this is the problem I suppose) I can't decide if I should go full time and get the extra cash and force myself to be more organised OR continue with the 3 days, still earning a bit more than I do atm.

I'm slightly worried incase I hate the new job and I'm then committed to full time hrs ( I dont think I could change hrs after my training)

What would you do?

I'd go part time, but only you can decide if it covers you financially.

questiontimeplease · 14/11/2022 16:44

@JennyForeigner I think that's what I'll do. It's still more money and yet still a day to do housework with out using my actual day off. Think that's more of a win win tbh

Part time

Would they let you do 4 shorter days?

It's worth working out how much you can earn before you pay tax and work out all the financial ramifications. My part time hours are almost full time but just under that any extra hours I do would be wiped out in childcare fees and tax

Good luck with the new role!

I do 4 days and find it's a positive balance

berksandbeyond · 14/11/2022 18:02

I haven't worked full time since I had my child (who is 4). I work 5 days a week but school hours only.

I wouldn't go FT
