When I heard about his cancer on the news it felt like a stab to the heart. I see him on the TV and almost consider him to be a friend. How daft is that? I feel genuinely heartbroken for him and his lovely family

My Mum was filmed for Escape to the Country and said that Jonnie was utterly charming and really put them at ease. She was a "local yokel" to the area that a couple were looking to buy in Grin she still shares the bloody interview yearly on her FB memories....

Awfully sad news for his loved ones, my Dad is dying of cancer and it's an utter bastard of a slow painful death. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, let alone a Dad with young kids and a wife being left to raise them Sad

Was looking for a thread on this ☹️ Just wanted to add that Jonnie has been a fixture on my screen for so many years I feel like I know him, it honestly was a very sad shock to read of his illness today in the news. I hope that he has some reasonable time ahead of him to spend with his beautiful family, and that his children will at least have loads amazing footage of him doing a dream job in the prime of his life to watch fondly in years to come 💜

It’s just dreadful news, so sad.

There was a thread this morning www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/4676964-jonnie-irwin-place-in-the-sun-terminal-cancer?reply=121523717
