I'm watching TK1407 and it's aborted 4 landings so far 🙁It's going round again.

I wonder why. Watching with you

SabiRiver · 14/11/2022 12:06

Why is the landing being
aborted?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 14/11/2022 12:07

What is the relevance of the flight?

I've been on a plane with aborted landings and it was due to cross winds.
.I don't get what the concern is 🤔

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 14/11/2022 12:09

There's a bit of a queue of flights going in tbh.

notangelinajolie · 14/11/2022 12:09

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy no relevance it's the most tracked flight on flightradar atm so I clicked on to see.

FusilliFettler · 14/11/2022 12:10

Is the weather bad there? Others seem to be landing ok.

notangelinajolie · 14/11/2022 12:11

They are bringing the flights behind it in. Ryanair from Luton has just landed.

Fog

Preeeettyprettygood · 14/11/2022 12:17

You've got me watching now. Love a good flight radar binge

Fuuuuuckit · 14/11/2022 12:19

I was on a flight yesterday that aborted landing due to fog. We only had one go before being diverted and that was bad enough.

MaggieFS · 14/11/2022 12:22

How do you find the most tracked? Is it a feature you pay for?

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 14/11/2022 12:26

She's down!

LittleRen · 14/11/2022 12:26

It landed.

Top left of the screen, there's a little drop down menu

notangelinajolie · 14/11/2022 13:31

That's a relief. The aborted landings to do tend to make it onto the top ten tracking list. There is one just landing at Leeds right now.
I live near an airport and I can always tell when they have aborted their landing because they swoosh very loudly up again over my house. It's quite scary, not as scary as it must be for those on board though.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/11/2022 14:33

The Leeds one now looks like a 'diverted to Manchester'. I'm at the other side of Leeds at a similar altitude as the airport and it's well foggy here.

We're not too far from Heathrow and I can always tell a plane that's on a go-around from the noise too.

We had one coming in to land at Gatwick once - we were quite low to the ground on our final approach to the runway and suddenly pulled back up. DH was panicking, but I said they probably just weren't happy with something. Pilot came on shortly after, apologising, and saying she wasn't happy with another plane that was on the runway and she wasn't confident they'd take off in time ahead of her. Second landing attempt was more successful thankfully!

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 14/11/2022 14:42

Leeds is terrible for aborted landings, due to the altitude fog and wind cause lots of issues, I'm sure Manchester get sick of the amount of diversions they get!

RosalindsAFuckingNightmare · 14/11/2022 15:32

KnickerlessParsons · 14/11/2022 15:38

It happened to me once, flying in to Nice airport. The pilot aborted the landing when we were what felt like about 6ft off the ground. He came on to apologise and said it had been too windy to land, and he took us to Marseilles instead.

Everything due to land at LBA in the next hour or so is cancelled or diverted. Fog is now thicker here than when I last posted.

What I want to know is what is so interesting about the Frankfurt to Muscat flight - just looks like a scheduled Lufthansa flight going about it's normal routine.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 14/11/2022 15:46

I'm in a similar area to @BarbaraofSeville and it's been like pea soup here for 2 days now. So many aborted landings and diversions!

LBA doesn't do well in the fog.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/11/2022 15:48

And according to the departure board, there's a Ryanair flight that should have gone to Alicante this morning that is now showing as estimated 17.30 departure they'll be lucky.

Imagine getting excited about getting to Spain for lunchtime, only to suffer a 7 hour delay hanging around a small, not very well serviced airport.

Fuuuuuckit · 14/11/2022 18:01

Loads of flights to/from Leeds cancelled/diverted yesterday. Including mine.

On the flip side, once in a blue moon Leeds is the only airport open for miles as it is ABOVE the fog in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle...
