Struggling for ideas. She only turned 3 in October and she got a bike and a doll's House. So far I've got her a big playdough set and a few books.
She's really into Moana and Toy Story so thinking some soft toys but other than that I'm stuck. It's the wrong kind of year to be getting her outside stuff.
She's got loads of paint, colouring, etc.

What are you getting yours?

We go the outside stuff for Christmas so she could use it as soon as it warmed up rather than waiting until a late summer birthday...

Yes I suppose I just like it when she opens stuff and can use straight away, not on a cold winter's day!

At that age, my dd loved anything to do with role play. She had the vet playset from Melissa and Doug and a lovely vintage tea set. We didn’t have room for a full blown play kitchen but the Melissa and Doug ice cream stand was a massive hit, and she also had a little shopping trolley, toy till and lots of play food. I made her a dressing up box with a tutu, toy shoes, beads, feather boa, fairy wings, sunglasses, hat, wand, cape, apron, tiara etc…

A scooter, as per her request for the last few months.

Teadrinkingmumofone · 14/11/2022 11:01

Scooter, pop up pirate game, scaredy bear game. Little bits like dress the bear wooden game, craft sets.

My 3 year old son is also obsessed with toy story and frozen
Gonna get him the dress up buzz and woody outfits he loves dressing up in costumes
He's been asking for a frozen doll house as well so it's on the list

I probably sound really tight, but we haven't got DS very much. He's still at the stage where he'd be just as thrilled with one present as he would with ten. He really enjoys playing with cars, specifically monster trucks, so I've got him:

A pack of 9 monster trucks
Spider-Man figured
Two other Marvel figures
Spider-Man slippers
Some books

DP wants to get him a bike which is a nice idea and I'm happy with that if we do get around to it, but if not, we'll do that for his birthday.

Gifts I know others have bought him are:

Spider-Man walkie talkies
Paw Patrol cars
Big box of Lego
Clothes
Pyjamas

I pressed send too soon. Because he's not so big on presents (his last birthday and last Christmas it took him around a week to open presents as he just seemed really overwhelmed by it), I've gone for experiences instead. We have a farm trip to the local farm to see Santa which includes a build a bear type thing. We have a visit to a Santa's grotto in a cave another weekend. Then on Christmas Eve, I booked a pantomime for us to go to, then come home for some hot chocolate, supper and bed ❤️

I’m struggling because we already have a lot in the houses

  • washamils set
  • dressing up accessories
  • Foldable bucket and spade, for a surprise holiday

Might get some new bath toys and bath bombs as a family toy.

upfucked · 14/11/2022 12:33

My older girl’s most loved gift from this age was a pair of scissors.

DS is getting a remote control car, a buzz lightyear helmet and an Octonauts book from us/Santa. Family are getting him Lego (he's 4 in February, and recently got into Lego rather than Duplo).

One thing we considered was one of those kidizoom cameras.

SBAM · 14/11/2022 12:41

We’re getting our just turned 3yo some duplo, a kinetic sand kit, a paw patrol game, and a couple of books.

Plus a present from Father Christmas once I know what he wants.
The 5 year old will get similar, 5/6 things, no ‘big’ presents this year as they’ve already got bikes, scooters, doll houses etc. and they’ll get other presents from family.

My DS (4 this week) is currently carrying around a duster handle that, according to him, is Mr Ant who wears a crown/a triceratops/a pewpew (gun, not sure where he's picked that up from but too late now).

On the basis of that, we're just going with a couple of fancy dress & role play bits and stuff he needs (new bag for nursery, new pjs, a couple of books) and putting what we would have spent on toys into his savings. He'll be just as happy and I don't have to deal with storing, cleaning, and subsequently selling/donating toys he's played with a handful of times.

Bobbins2022 · 16/11/2022 07:42

DS was 3 in October. He's getting:

  • Toot toot garage (secondhand)
  • pop up pirate
  • kinetic sand
  • vtech smart phone
  • melissa and doug reusable stickers
  • couple of jigsaws
  • couple of books
  • Glow in the dark stars for his room

Then he has a playmobil 123 zoo to share with his sister

Other people are getting him:

  • Dressing up clothes
  • toy shop
  • toy post office
  • take apart fire engine
