Any pharmacists about??

Please note - I've already called my pharmacy and the manager isn't in today and the lady I spoke to doesn't know.

Does anyone know whether you have ordered a private prescription and it has been filled whether you have to collect and pay for it?

Sounds a bit silly, but I no longer need the prescription that I put in a week or so ago. Obviously private prescriptions are very expensive (£150 in this case), so if they can merely redistribute those meds/ sell them to someone else/ send them back I'd much rather do that! However I wouldn't do this if it left the pharmacy out of pocket etc.

Any ideas?!

Not sure at all but do you know if the medicine is expensive as you thought? Lots of drugs are not that expensive ... some are but lots aren't

Call them and ask if they can send it back to the supplier as it's not like it left their premise / potentially tampered with

Yes I will definitely call again tomorrow when the pharmacist is back in!

And sorry, yes, it is that expensive unfortunately- I've had it before.

So frustrating

Just don't go in and collect it

Sounds like the lady on the phone is panicking

They can send it back to the supplier or use it for an NHS script if it's one the NHS px

I always got private prescriptions from Pharmacierge in London then realised using my local pharmacy was genuinely 1/8 of the price I didn't realise the variation in costs

Have you found an alternative to the drug you had asked for OP? Why don't you need it?

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 14/11/2022 10:19

@stopbeeping it's an ADHD medication; I was paying for it privately (script from private psychiatrist) whilst the dose was optimised. It's now been optimised and my GP has taken over prescribing (shares care agreement). I do need the meds but can now get them via an NHS prescription!

That's fantastic news!!

So can't the pharmacist just give you them via the NHS then so they don't "waste" then if that's their argument?

Well done on this, such a massive achievement. Huge journey for you to go through xxx

As long as the haven't been opened, they can just give them to someone else or send them back.

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 14/11/2022 14:24

@stopbeeping thank you! It's honestly the best thing I've ever done for myself; truly life changing ♥️

@underneaththeash that's what I think, but I just wanted to check that I wasn't being silly!
