Does anyone remember these non-fiction anthology books from primary school?

In the 80s

Sorry. Trigger finger. I read them in the 80s at primary school. Devoured them, really. But I think they were already old then. Maybe dated from 60s???

They were soft back collections of non-fiction stories. They were where I first read about Operation Mincemeat, Anna Andersen..all sorts.

Is this ringing bells with anyone?

Haven't seen any of those, but they sound interesting. I loved nonfiction

Me too. I think that series are what really got me addicted to non-fiction. I was already fiction-mad.

It’s driving me mad that I can’t remember more about them. I’d love to track some down.

The only other distinctive thing that sticks in my mind were that they were an unusual textured soft back, like a canvas type of finish. Some kind of durable library-binding paperback, I suppose, but they could have come in hardback or other bindings too.
