A broadway show? Gardening things? A visit to a rose garden? A fruit free/ exotic indoor plant? Concert to see her fav band? A nice vegan leather handbag?

Ragwort · 13/11/2022 22:05

Are you sure she wants a gift? I hosted a small party for my 50th, I put a message on the invite ... something along the lines 'please, no presents'. I genuinely didn't want anything, I am fortunate enough to be perfectly content with my life, have no need for more 'stuff' .. most people respected my request but I did end up with some well meant gifts ... usually plants which died.

... so many suggestions for garden stuff Grin ... my idea of hell

Does she read? You can get some really lovely book subscriptions, some come with wee treats like candles and things, I was given one from a really great bookshop where I filled in a very detailed questionnaire and they sent me some perfect hand-picked choices.

AnneButNotHathaway · 14/11/2022 08:29

Spa certificate? Tickets to the show she wants to attend? Books on topics she's interested in? Could be a book subscription, there are so many options: www.independent.co.uk/extras/indybest/books/best-book-subscription-boxes-b2130796.html
Instead of a card you can make a birthday slideshow for her and send it via email, or print out a birthday photo collage.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 14/11/2022 08:54

A vibrator.

The only kind of present l really enjoy is gardening stuff!! So all depends on her lifestyle.

How about a vegan cookery class? These days I much prefer experiences to things as gifts.

Another way to approach it might be to think if there is something that would eliminate a daily annoyance - my DH did that one year at Christmas for me and eliminated about five regular sources of annoyance / stress and improved my daily life no end even though each individual gift wasn't huge (for example, a new power bank as I was always running out of battery).

It’s hard when we don’t know her interests, but thinking of myself and the sort of things I would love to receive.

I would say nice pajamas and a good book, perfume (anything from Chanel or Dior!) nice body products (neom, molton brown, rituals) posh tea & biscuits (fortnum and mason) or one of their hampers, nice skincare (Elemis) lovely candle or diffuser, wax melts and burner, slippers or dressing gown (like white company) beauty advent calendar, cookbook, jewellery, anything that helps me sleep like pillow spray and eye mask, nice hair products, voucher for manicure/facial, Fresh flowers.

I could go on and on!! Whatever you decide I am sure it will be well received, pop in a gift receipt and know that she can always exchange it.

House plant
Garden plant
Candle
Throw
A vegan hamper
Visit to art exhibition/ lunch afterwards
Depending on when her birthday is, a trip to one of the Christmas light installations ( Kew, Lots if NT places have them)
NT membership
A Lend with Care voucher lendwithcare.org

Oblomov22 · 14/11/2022 13:49

AnnieKenney do You have a link please re vegan cooking class.

Dh and I looked up cooking classes. About £300 for not very much, so were not prepared to book.

AnnieKenney · 14/11/2022 17:09

Try these: Made in Hackney (they do online classes too and foraging walks which might appeal?) or Class Bento

Or you could try a three month (or longer!) subscription for a meal kit service. Mindful Chef always has good vegan options or you could go for the gourmet Gauthier which is amazing but unfortunately on hold until 2023. There are other options listed at this link but I haven't tried them so can't comment.
