DS (12) too tall for school trousers! Help!

He’s been in age 17/18 extra long M&S trousers (biggest size) since starting Yr7. They are now coming above his ankles.

He needs men size but I can’t find the right material and they have to be ‘school’ trousers. I’m going to have 3 and half more years of trying to get even bigger trousers for him!

Just spent ages trying to find some! Any ideas?

Mens suit trousers from next should work. They’re around £30/pair. Look fir the washable ones.

My DS is 13 and 6ft. Now in black M and S mens w 30 work trousers, which they sell in a two pack for about £19
and size 11 shoes 😱

Thank you so much.

Have looked again at M&S @GreenLeavesRustling and ordered two pairs of adult (he needs 33 inch leg!) men’s trousers for £30. He’s 5 ft 9 but has very long legs. DS2 reached 6ft 4 by 16 but he needed black trousers for school so much easier to find. The problem is DS3s need to be dark grey (same as school trousers in supermarkets) and I couldn’t find the right shade! The M&S ones look a bit lighter but they’ll have to do!

www.landsend.co.uk do men's cotton chinos which go up to 36.5 inch inside leg. Various colours including charcoal grey
My ds wears them in black for school.
Usually discount codes available which puts them at around £32.
They wash well but wouldn't recommend tumble drying.

I feel your pain ds1 was 6'4" by aged 14 and very slim. We got M&S men's

Akite · 13/11/2022 23:10

My DS is 6'2" with a 34" leg and the Next age 17 school trousers fit him perfectly. He also has the grey ones and they have different waist fittings as well as the waists being adjustable.

I have a similarly lanky 13yr old and John Lewis do a Long version that is 5cm longer than their standard ones.
They also come in different waist sizes as well which is useful

Op I did far too much research into this in the Summer lol.

Dc1 is 14 and 6ft 2 so has outgrown the 17/18 year ranges - but he really wanted 'school trouser feel' trousers, not suit or 'shiny mens trousers'.

After much research and trial and error, I discovered that the typical school trouser material is 65% polyester and 35% viscoise (sp) and nothing else feels like the school trousers for younger boys.

Ds1 has these which are exactly the same as asda school trousers only bigger

I got ds 33" leg trousers for school from the local company that did the logo stuff for nearly every school in the area, I bought all his school trousers from there all the time he has been at school as they sold the ones with the elastic pull ins when he was tiny & the larger sizes as he grew both in height & width.

Ds is lanky too (6"4 @ 14) 38 inch leg but skinny. M&S for us !
