I've just been on a nostalgia trip and watched a couple 80's movies including Private Benjamin and Overboard. I loved these movies during late childhood/teens and haven't watched them in years.
Aside from how dated they look now (scary as doesn't seem that long ago!) the thing that really stands our is they male/female dynamic in these movies. Obviously as movies they may be a degree exaggerated but was the husband/wife and male/female thing really so chovanistic/ stereotypical back then? 😲
I was only 4 when Private Benjamin was released so I would have been oblivious through the 80's.
