Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful he's been offered it. He's 14 and we had a letter to say he needs one because he is vulnerable. He didn't get one when they were doing the vulnerable dc earlier this year, he had to wait and get one when they were doing the non vulnerable 12-15 year olds. He used to have the flu jab as he was hospitalized with flu as a baby but not this year as the GP said it was too long ago to count. He is on a very long waiting list to be assessed for ASD but no diagnosis yet.

If you want him to have it, have it. There's an abundance of vaccines available in the UK now so no need to worry about it.

Ds gets one because he's autistic. I'd guess that may have triggered it for your ds.

Ds is delighted to find he is entitled to it. He reacts with a high temperature to all vaccinations so was sitting grinning happily at the nurse. When she asked if he was okay to have it he said. "Yes. I want my two days off school". I had to explain it wasn't just that I kept him off, that he normally is too ill to go in.
