I’ve got the beer fear….possibly overheard gossiping….can you reassure me?

Out last night, visiting BIL’s small village, friend loudly gossiping about my BIL in pub. I didn’t enthusiastically join in but said more than I should have done. Sure we were probably overheard.

don’t know how I’m going to face it out if it gets back to him.

How bad was the stuff you did say? Was it just not standing up for BIL or actively participating?

I'd be inclined to deny and blame small village gossip. Yes X was talking about you but they had too much to drink and I didn't want to make a scene in public.

Unless you joined in, in which case you might have to own whatever it was you said.

Yes unless you were filmed doing it just make like a politician and deny everything

I doubt anyone else was really listening in, they were busy enjoying themselves/chatting/laughing etc. People don't spend their long-awaited night out listening to other peoples' conversations.

there was a quiet table next to us looking at their phones….there was just something tha5 made me think they were listening in….

As long as you didn't pop it in a voice note and send on (which bizarrely seems a 'thing' withe celebs) just down play / deny if confronted.

Also, if me and my friends where on the table next to you, we'd have had a listen in if the rant was juicy just so we could chat about it ourselves after you'd gone. Non of us would the speed dial BIL if we'd known him.
