Idle curiosity but I was just wondering.

Not if they’re clever.

Josette77 · 13/11/2022 05:29

No Posh women often have careers.

FindingMeno · 13/11/2022 05:31

Some will start a business to dabble with.

Puffykins · 13/11/2022 06:09

No. Certainly not if they love what they do.

daretodenim · 13/11/2022 06:10

They often become interior designers. Not the sort that has extensively studied and worked hard over years to move up in an organisation.

Others have solid professional careers in medicine, law or banking (private wealth management) and continue, at least for a while.

Whatever they do, none of them are working on a till in Asda.

daretodenim · 13/11/2022 06:13

Oh and must not forget "working in the family business" whatever that actually means. I've met a few who do that..yet they're usually free during working hours!

GoodVibesHere · 13/11/2022 09:30

Well it depends who these 'posh women' are? Women can't be lumped in to a group, everyone's an individual I guess.

DH Mother stopped working when she married and became a Lady that did lunch and some work for charity, she had a housekeeper running the house.

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/11/2022 09:44

Do you mean rich or posh posh

Anyway, not usually.

LizziesTwin · 21/11/2022 13:50

Well Kate Bingham chaired the UK government’s vaccine task force steering procurement of vaccines & the strategy for their deployment.

They always have silly little jobs like making the jewellery you see advertised in the back pages of Vogue.

InDubiousBattle · 21/11/2022 14:00

I've never met or known a woman who has given up work when they got married. I've only known one woman who gave up work to be a SAHM and never went back.

badbaduncle · 21/11/2022 14:03

Posh women are a class by sex and social class, not economic activity. They are as varied as any other group, many work, some self employed and many volunteer extensively. Without 'posh women' our local food bank/winter coat drive etc wouldn't exist

Swedishmeatball · 21/11/2022 14:03

I was a lawyer at a magic circle law firm when one of the super posh solicitors stopped working the moment she got pregnant (soon after her marriage). Some of my colleagues also stopped work when they married - but they were from very traditional Jewish/Muslim backgrounds. In my friendship group my poshest friend stopped work when pregnant and 15 years on has not resumed work.

The poshest woman I know is the head of an educational think tank.

No more than anyone else.
