Does anyone here have social anxiety?

I am really struggling at the moment about my social anxiety. I haven't met anyone with it or at least as bad as mine and wondered if there was anyone else in the same boat as me.

Mine is so horrendous I will avoid every situation possible. It’s even caused me to phone in sick on days I’m supposed to have someone sitting in with me observing my role because I just can’t deal with being with someone in my office.
Avoiding things is of course the totally wrong thing to do. You are supposed to go to everything as often as you can to desensitise yourself and realise it’s not a big deal. By avoiding things you feed the anxiety and it gets worse. Thanks to lockdown and not being around people much I now can’t do anything, despite medication, CBT & ACT therapy.

Yes and it’s awful at the moment, had to start a new job, which has sent me into free fall. Really struggling. Not sure where to turn.

I’m fine with people but terrible at phones. I put off minor phone calls for weeks.

Ah yes me and I'm also really struggling with it at the moment. I turned down a great, dream job a few weeks ago because they wanted me to start working from the office :( And work drinks (or with anyone) fill me with horror.
I've tried talking therapy but we didn't touch on the social anxiety at all, so I gave up. I'm thinking of trying hypnotherapy or regression therapy. Has anyone tried anything that's worked?

My young teen DD was really struggling with Social Anxiety until she did online Cognitive Therapy (different from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). You could ask GP I believe they have access to something similar to what she did.
Its been amazing for her gone from being too anxious to ask someone next to her at school to borrow a pencil etc to enjoying meeting new people in her new classes at the start of this term and now joined a gym!

Yes, me. I've always had the issue as long as I can remember but through ill (physical) health was forced to take prolonged time out of work. With that and the pandemic, spending almost all my time at home with limited company has made it so hard to overcome when I do go out. It puts me off from joining in with anything, even going in shops I'd like to go in because I'm so tied up in knots about having the requisite social interaction. It's frustrating and prohibitive and I wish people would realise how affecting and lonely it can be. I am introverted but am not anti social and would love to make friends I feel comfortable with or attend things and just be able to enjoy them for what they are. I see courses or things i'd like to go to all the time and just know I can't do it or will cancel at the last minute and then berate myself for it. The cycle is very self defeating.

Whilst it is nice to know I'm not alone I am so sorry to those here who are struggling. @ouch44 - I'm so, so pleased for your daughter that the CBT changed things so dramatically for her. What a wonderful result and so encouraging to hear that it's opened the world back up for her, well done her!

Yes. I have days where I can't handle anyone looking in my direction and other days I'm not as bad.
