Best AirPods/ear buds for Podcasts not music...

I’ve tried using my DS’s apple AirPods for listening to spoken word podcasts whilst I’m out walking but I really can’t hear them very well. I though the sound quality would be excellent as they cost a lot of money, but surprisingly they just don’t cut it for me.
Music is fine but trying to listen to the spoken word is very hit and miss.

Any recommendations please?

Oh dear, I was going to suggest AirPods as I use them all the time for spoken word and they’re brilliant. (Podcasts, radio, multiple diff audiobooks etc)
I have the AirPod pro ones if that makes any difference.

You can fiddle with the settings - that might make a difference? Have you tried his on noise cancellation etc? Or you can choose which size squashy bud to attach on the end - you might suit diff to his ears?

I have the basic AirPods and use them for podcasts. Have no issues with them and use them in a fairly noisy environment at work and have used them on planes.

You probably need AirPod Pros, OP. They can cancel out the background noise. They are amazing. There are plenty of other noise cancelling models in the market though.
