Contacting late at night?

My children’s father hasn’t had contact in quite a long time, recently he got in contact again but I told him he would need to speak to them on the phone only for now until they are comfortable to see him and it will take a while to build that up again due to his long period of absence, he didn’t seem happy but accepted it. The issue I’m having is that he is contacting them at inappropriate times, my sons phone pinged a little while ago (past midnight) and I noticed it was a message from his father, I take his phone off him at night and he is asleep but I still think this is inappropriate or am I being silly? Feel like I made a mistake by letting him have their number but it’s too late now

If it’s not waking them I wouldn’t worry. My ex Dh used to frequently do three am texts, it woke one but not others so I put a stop to it.

Yes agree with PP, if it doesn't wake then I wouldn't make an issue of it. He does need to make an effort to see them though.

Ok I won’t say anything then, I just thought it was more normal to wait till the morning as I wouldn’t text anyone at midnight unless it was an emergency especially a child but I realise my opinion on him isn’t great so if it’s fine I will leave it.
