Unimportant Question about Book Bands

I wonder if you lot can explain a mystery to me. It doesn’t matter one jot , yet every time I glance at the back of DD’s reading book I wonder…
why does the book have 2 Book Bands (one for KS1 and one KS2) and with it two colours.

And while I am at it why does it also have a Stage that doesn’t bear any resemblance to the stage/level listed on the OTR chart on their website?

In today’s example the book is simultaneously
KS1 Book Band 11 Lime
KS2 Book Band Y5 Blue
Stage 13

And the attached from the website.

This information will make no difference to my life, but will free up a small slice of brain so I never have to ponder it again.

Thanks!

Good question. I was a teacher for five years and never got the hang of lining up the various schemes, colours and corresponding ages/classes/national curriculum levels. This must be a mistake though because KS1 Y2 Lime lines up with KS2 Y3 Brown and definitely not with KS2 Y5 Dark Blue.

What does ‘line up’ even mean. It’s just one book…? How can it change bands?

continually baffled!

Another day another book band puzzle. Anyone understand how one book can have /be all 3?
