Where could I park to get the tube into central London?

I was wondering if someone could help please.

We are due to go to London for a show on 26th November, which has been announced as the next train strike. We are travelling from the north and wondered if anyone might know if somewhere we can park and then get the train in? The show is in central London and I don’t know London very well at all.

Thank you!

St. John’s Wood, free to park on single yellow or residents after 6 and all weekend. Not too expensive for a meter and 5 minutes on the jubilee line into the west end

if you sign up to a website like www.justpark.com/ then you can book parking in someone's driveway near a sensible tube station. our neighbour rents out his drive via that kind of site.

May be no use to you but we always park in Slough. There’s a car park just by station that we found on MyParkingSpace, then the train is quick into Paddington.

I always used Cockfosters. It is a long ride on Piccadilly line but there used to be a huge car park next to it. I assume it is still there.

Me too. If you're coming down the M1, watford Junction is also pretty good.

We've used Epping before, though it may be a bit out of your way. It is at the eastern tip of the Central Line, so easy to get a tube in to the West End.

We do live in Essex though.

Sorry! I did re- read your Op twice and still didn't see the word North 😂Hope you have a fun time!!

Park at Stanmore at the end of the Jubilee line. There is a station car park there

alexdgr8 · 11/11/2022 19:47

what time is your show ?
presume you are going back same night.
avoid station car parks if poss. try parkopedia.

Narwhaleahoy · 11/11/2022 19:47

I’m in North Wales and use Stanmore when we go to London. It’s easy to find and the car park is huge (it’s a loooong walk to the station if you are parked at the far end) although does get full fairly early on in the day. The last time we went, payment was via the PaybyPhone app so download that first. Tube then takes 1hr to Leicester Square.

feministqueen · 11/11/2022 20:13

We're in the East Midlands and park either at Luton parkway and get the Thames link in or at Stanmore and get the tube

CrampMcBastard · 11/11/2022 20:24

If coming down the M1 I used to park at East Finchley tube station

Blueuggboots · 11/11/2022 20:25

Park at Westfield white city (A40) then walk to Shepherd's Bush station - central line.

gillybean2 · 11/11/2022 20:32

Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush or Stratford. Sign up for a parking account and you don’t even need to worry about a ticket or paying as it recognises your number plate and takes payment from your card when you leave. I parked there this week for 10ish hours to go see a show, shop etc and was charged £9

gillybean2 · 11/11/2022 20:34

Should add there was a tube strike when we went so you may want to check it’s only the trains affected.

Lovemylittlebear · 11/11/2022 20:36

Westfield shopping centre and then tube or taxi from my direction into London.

Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate your help and will look at the suggestions, I didn’t know where to start! I’m coming from the north (Cheshire) and the show is the West End.

When my train got cancelled from Chester I went from Crewe - could this be an option?

FusionChefGeoff · 11/11/2022 20:43

Stanmore is good if you're coming in on the M1.

Use justpark.com to book a space nearby.

Trainhel · 11/11/2022 20:48

Thank you so much everyone! This is so helpful, thank you. I think Stanmore, St Johns Wood or Westfield sound like good options (but will look at them all). The show is at 2.30 so hopefully there should be time to get there and back in one day. Fingers crossed the tube is working okay. Thanks again, you’ve saved our day out!

There's a Q park car park in St. John's Wood - not particularly cheap compared to some suggestions but it's convenient

Trainhel · 11/11/2022 20:55

One more question, which Westfield would be best? Is it hard to drive to if it’s very central?

I've parked at Hillingdon station (took me a while to find the entrance ti the car park because it looked like we were driving into a timber yard).

I might try Westfield shopping centre next time.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 11/11/2022 21:08

I always use Stanmore or Cockfosters Occasionally edge ware but carpark not as big there.
