Ways to overhaul your immune system?

my oh has been ill, like bedridden ill for about 20 weeks in the last year and a half. 9 weeks was covid/long covid but before that he was ill for 5 weeks and that difficulty wasn't covid (multiple tests home and hospital)

He seems weak generally to viruses and now everytime he gets a basic cold his immune system just massively overreacts. He is slightly asthmatic so his body has form for this.

Has anyone found a way of improving their health? He cycles to work most days, healthy bmi, i cook from scratch most days. He takes vitamins. Cholesterol is fine.

What vitamins does he take? And if he doesn't already I'd definitely recommend a probiotic and plenty of fermented food- Kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir etc.

It's radical and hard to do so most people are reluctant, but quitting sugar can really help. You need to steer clear of sugar replacements though

There is a growing body of evidence that covid depletes the immune and that it can last at least 6 months

He should avoid further infections (and definitely avoiding getting covid again) this winter. So reduce the number of people he mixes with indoors (and by extension, same for your household so they are less likely to bring infections home), when you do meet people wear a mask, and go for the best ventilation you can.

Otherwise, eat well, and supplement vitamin D
