Worried over bloody ring doorbell

Confusedmaa · 11/11/2022 14:49

I went to collect something from a house today. I'd arranged a time although I was little late. I rang the Ring doorbell but there was no answer. I waited a while but nothing. I went straight on to run my next errand and planned on messaging the person later to explain I'd been and there was nobody home. A couple of hours later a get a message saying I haven't been and the t her husband waited in all day. I explained that I'd been. She says she can't see me on the camera. I thought she'd see that I'd been and message me to apologise but no she says the ring doorbell shows that nobody has been. I worry myself sick about things like this. She thinks I'm a liar. She is so lovely too. She must think I'm a right disorganised cow. I could be actually sick. I know this is stupid but I just can't help feeling like this. Somebody slap me.

Sounds like you went to the wrong address?
Take a deep breath.
Mistakes happen.
Just message and say you must have went to the wrong house, is it possible to rearrange collection.

Could actually be sick 😂

I don't get what the problem is? Just say oh well I will collect another time

bitfit · 11/11/2022 15:01

You worry about things like what? I'm not sure what the issue is. Can't you go and collect it later?

SomethingOnce · 11/11/2022 15:07

Ring doesn’t seem to catch everything - if the Wi-Fi drops out temporarily things don’t get recorded, ime. Anyone else?

moistmingemist · 11/11/2022 15:08

@naughtygrannypig the OP May have severe anxiety!

Lavendersummer · 11/11/2022 15:09

If you arranged a time then it was her husbands choice to wait in all day.
Did you go to the correct address?
I think you are being a bit hard on yourself.

Grandadwasthatyou · 11/11/2022 15:19

Agree. I thought my teenage ds hadn’t got back from a night out as no sign on the Ring doorbell. But he had got back in the early hours and was asleep in bed. So can only assume that wifi dropped out just as he was getting back.

Cantdoitallperfectly · 11/11/2022 15:23

Sometimes our ring doesn’t record say if the person has driven up in a car and waited a few seconds to get out. It stops recording after 30 seconds or so. However if you had rung the doorbell it comes up with a new alert and starts recording. Sounds like a mix up, just text and say you were there and that you’d like to collect later.

Yep, mine's rubbish, has a really poor signal reception and missed my car being stolen off the driveway, right in front of the bloody thing 🙄

BobbyBobbyBobby · 11/11/2022 15:33

It can only be one of three things!

1 You went to the wrong address.

2 Husband who was meant to be in actually went out or fell asleep and doesn’t want his wife to know for whatever reason and has lied to her about checking the ring doorbell and you’re not calling round.

3 Husband confessed to wife he went out or fell asleep and she’s embarrassed and is lying to you!

People are weird!

It really is no big deal.

TheTeenageYears · 11/11/2022 15:38

I'm not sure how they work but a few months ago I got no response when I visited a house with a Ring doorbell and was told it was on charge so they were unaware I had rung the bell.

Mykittensmittens · 11/11/2022 15:45

My ring is so bad I’m debating getting rid. I have a milkman who delivers 3 times a week. The doorbell hardly ever picks up that he is coming right up the drive and leaves the milk virtually on the step underneath.

makes me wonder what else it misses!

megletthesecond · 11/11/2022 15:48

Wi-fi sometimes drops out or you could have appeared moments after another movement was captured and it didn't pick yours up.
IIRC mine gives it a minute or two between motion sensors so even though it appears to be working it doesn't get everyone if lots of people have passed the house. The doorbell can sometimes work without the indoor chime going too.

soggydigestives · 11/11/2022 15:59

Just check you had the right address and say "oh how strange, I called at so and so time, there was no answer. Never mind, do you want to rearrange?" Don't worry too much, I don't think ring doorbells are overly reliable.

PinkButtercups · 11/11/2022 16:01

@torquewench Do you have the chime also? That helps with the signal I believe.

Don't worry OP. You might have got the wrong address or she could be lying herself. Just rearrange.

Definitely the right house because I went back later to pick up.

Worried that she thinks I lied. I was there but she must think that her ring camera can't lie. I went back later after we had the conversation and rang the bell she said it didn't show I'd been there and that it definitely picks up any movement.

My mam has milk delivered to her doorstep too. She has never seen him on the ring doorbell.

Yes I have the Chime also but it makes no difference. They're all connected to the same WiFi hub, plus the doorbell is fairly far away/outdoors, the camera out the back nearer the hub works much better. I'm getting a Virgin pod to plug in near to the door to hopefully make it better.

torquewench · 11/11/2022 21:53

I'm getting a Virgin hub because the generic WiFi repeater is rubbish, far too slow despite me having super duper fast fibre broadband
