3.5 year old looks depressed

Hi all,
I'm feeling really sad and wondering if anyone experienced similar.
I have a 3.5 year old DS. He's a happy, outgoing, social child. He started nursery in Sept and was loving it. He's made friends etc and seems to be learning. He was off last week due to half term and even said he missed his friends.
I took him in on Monday and he was happy, wasn't hard work to get him ready etc. However my partner took him Tues and said he didnt wasn't to go and was crying. It was the same yesterday and apparently he carried him in screaming today.
When I picked him up from nursery yesterday, I spoke to the staff and she said he had been fine and that he's ok.when there. However, he walked out of nursery sad and solemn and would barely speak, which is unlike him.
However he seems to be more quiet at home too, just looks sad and not himself.
On the Tues morning before nursery, I was playing with our son and he seemed ok. However just before they left the house my partner shouted at me in front of our son and I'm feeling awful that this may have had an impact.
My partner says I'm being ridiculous and that he had been quiet all morning.
I feel so awful for him and so worried.

Didn't want to read and run...Do you think something happened at nursery? Like another child hitting him or being mean? I'm sorry he seem so down. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Maybe he's coming down with a bug? Or something happened at nursery to upset him?

Does your partner make a habit of shouting at you in front of your child?
