Gap years - what to do??

Our DC may take a Gap year before university. We want it to be filled with experiences and travel.
I have no idea these days what Gap year students can do - we'd rather have 'organised' trips than DC setting off alone with a backpack. Open to any suggestions!
I'd be so grateful if anyone whose DC took a Gap year could share some of their experiences - thank you so much.

My DD is also looking at gap year options. She wants to ski and go to Camp America. However the ski options seem to be very expensive. Camp America is only 10 weeks. Would be interested to know about any other structured activities too.

Has your DD looked at UCPA for skiing @MumoftwoGirls11 ?

A family member worked in a ski resort for a few months in the winter during a gap year, not sure how that was arranged though. It meant they made some money to enable further travel over the summer.

What has DC said?
What is their budget?

Didn't know about UCPA before, it certainly is cheaper thank you. Would be good to have work experience, don't know how easy that would be now with Brexit as well.
