Very random dance question

Such a strange thing but as a teenager I remember going to a caravan holiday and going to the club and Blame it On the Boogie came on and everyone regardless of age was doing an identical dance to it . I didn’t know know the dance and was just watching a Facebook video of a pub where everyone else was up doing same dance . So is this something everyone knows except me ?! I remember picking up how to do the time warp and Macarena at junior school Xmas parties .

Oh I remember this at school discos! Early 90s but I think the teachers chose the music 🤣

StarryKnight · 10/11/2022 20:40

I think a boy band did a cover version late 80s/early 90s, there could have been a dance?

Shunkleisshiny · 10/11/2022 20:45

We waved our right arm in an arc to sunlight then our left arm to moonlight, did a sort of bending our arms and bringing them towards our body to good times and finished off with a boogie motion to boogie!!!
My husband has been watching me quite bemused, as I silently went through the motions of this 'dance'. I do hope this is the dance you are thinking of, and my efforts were not in vain!!!

KangarooKenny · 10/11/2022 20:46

Yes, there was a dance

Takingabreakagain · 10/11/2022 20:52

I'm not sure where or when I learnt the dance but this post reminded me of Sarah Millican who tells a good story about the type of dance she was allowed to do

@Shunkleisshiny Yes that is the very dance ! Did you learn it at school I can remember watching my aunties and cousins at the caravan holiday all doing this and wondering where the hell they all knew the moves from and felt like I had missed out on something !

To be absolutely correct its sunlight in a high arc to the right and moonlight a straight lower arm sweep (?) to the left, or at least that's how we rolled

Namechangeno25788 · 11/11/2022 00:00

Yes! Big Fun covered it in 1990. Back when I had boyband posters on my walls and danced at school discos 😂

Loved this - but the guy from Big Fun used the wrong arms when he demo-ed ‘their original’ dance moves 😄 (@Shunkleisshiny & @Benjaminsniddlegrass are right, sunshine is definitely with right arm!)

Ummm…. That “bending your arms towards your body” is a shagging move though isn’t it now

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/11/2022 01:25

Of course. I get quite upset if people don't do the dance.

StrangerOnline · 11/11/2022 01:34

@GoodnightGentleBoris - yes - shagging move 🤣 As used again in Full Monty dole queue scene

When you sweep the arm right to left, for moonlight, we wiggled our fingers.

In my humble opinion, a party isn’t a party till you’ve blamed it on the boogie. With the obligatory dance moves of course.

Sweetlikechocolate6 · 11/11/2022 19:52

Now I am really wanting someone I know to have a cheesy party with a DJ so I can do this boogie and a bit of Cotton Eye Joe too
