How do I get marker pen out of my sons school jumper?

He came out of school with his jumper like this. Apparently he decided to draw on himself 🙃 his other jumpers have a couple of small marker pen marks that haven't washed out so I'm not risking washing this one yet and ruining it completely. Help?!

Bicarbonate of soda overnight soak

ElizaCBennett · 09/11/2022 22:40

shaving foam is worth a try

witchesbubblebath · 09/11/2022 22:40

Maybe washing soda. I'm a keen advocate of it

Hairspray is amazing on ink stains!

RiftGibbon · 09/11/2022 22:45

On small marks like that I have doused in hairspray until wet, blotted, repeated, then smeared with washing up liquid and put through the wash. However, there are a lot of marks here and you'd need to test an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn't damage the fabric. Might be better to try some of the alternatives above.

Never managed it. My little darlings have done the same. I made them buy a new one with pocket money and they haven't done it again. Well, not on purpose anyway!

I discovered in the summer that hand gel gets biro out (it's the alcohol in it). Maybe try that it's really easy.

MyGrandmaLizzie · 09/11/2022 22:50

Alcohol based hand gel removes ballpoint pen ink

Fab, thanks to COVID we have loads of hand gel scattered about all over the place so I'll try that tomorrow, thanks!

Or later today, considering the time 🤣

If it doesn't come out, then your child can continue to wear it. Most children have pen marks on their clothes. If you're worried about being judged, just mention to the teacher that it won't come out and that your child is learning that actions have consequences (though tbf, many children don't care if their jumpers have pen all over!) Only success I’ve had is hairspray and blot.

Crossback · 10/11/2022 07:46

Milk has worked for me in the past but not on quite the same scale as that!

AltheaVestr1t · 10/11/2022 07:48

Oh yes, I've been there! School clothes cope pretty well with a 90 degree wash I've found, with loads of vanish. It's worth a try.

Banjaxx · 10/11/2022 07:51

HAIRSPRAY, it’s amazing honestly try it
