My favourite of those is PE, because I don't know anymore location so i go there easily by just using mobile google map .

I love the pizzas at Prezzo. I had Carbonara last time I went it was quite nice - salty from the pancetta. It’s very rich though.

I wouldn't bother with any of them but we have loads of independent Italian restaurants locally, and I always choose pizza!

Carbonara in general is dreadful, even if you make it yourself from scratch.

Why are you going to a chain Italian restaurant if you don't like them?

Thelongwayround · 09/11/2022 19:05

I don’t mind a prezzo carbonara. The Zizzi one has chorizo on for some unknown reason and they can’t do it without the chorizo which tells you all you need to know

I like the lobster ravioli at Zizzi but it certainly lacks that freshness and I'm not sure if there is any lobster in there really. .

Off topic but I thought Ask had closed down. All the ones near us did, pre covid.

I went to the Ask in Scarborough earlier this year so definitely still some branches open. Food was nice there 😋

Croque · 09/11/2022 19:11

Oops Prezzo - but it is prob bought in from same supplier in any case 😄

Almostlegible · 09/11/2022 19:25

I wouldn’t have pasta in a chain but if you are near a Franco Manca the pizzas are the best I’ve eaten. Even the crusts!

Do you have one of these near you ? Their carbonara is magnificent

PeekAtYou · 09/11/2022 19:41

My local Tesco had zizzi dishes in the frozen aisle - no idea if it's like the rearaurant. No idea if they are any good but I wouldn't order a carbonara at a chain Italian.

RampantIvy · 09/11/2022 19:42

Oh yes, I rate Franco Manca.

itssquidstella · 09/11/2022 19:43

I love a Zizzi

itssquidstella · 09/11/2022 19:45

Franco Manca is great. We have a local place called Bufala di Londra which is a similar concept and delicious, although the service is crap.

itssquidstella · 09/11/2022 19:47

Oh but Bucci in Balham was my favourite independent Italian restaurant. I haven't been since I moved to north London in 2015 but I have fond memories of Mr Bucci and his establishment! I hope the restaurant survived the pandemic.

Croque · 09/11/2022 19:49

I can't stand Franco Manca. I have been around twenty times as well. It never happened for me. Love the written descriptions in the menu though.

Be honest, you want to triple your clubcard points by dining at one of them don't you 😉
