London MNers! Taxi from Kings x to Sutton?

Acunningruse · 09/11/2022 05:38

Please could anyone guesstimate what a taxi from London Kings cross to Sutton high street would be? On a Saturday morning if that makes a difference. DS struggles with crowds and busy places so not sure how he would fare on tubes so looking at whether a taxi would be doable.

Thanks!

At a guess, 70-80 quid in a black cab.

Have a look at Thameslink trains. They pass through Central London to Sutton. They are usually much less busy than the tube although you do get the occasional packed one.

Thames link from St. Pancras at King's Cross during off peak hours is an overground train & will be less busy.

PeanutBellyJam · 09/11/2022 05:44

You can get an Uber quote to give you an idea too - just put the journey in but don't book?

BlackberrySky · 09/11/2022 05:46

Definitely agree with PP. Sutton isn't on the tube. I take the Thameslink in the rush hour and even then there are always seats. Check the times though because it isn't that frequent at the weekend (once every half hour or so and often engineering works).

Whycanineverever · 09/11/2022 05:47

If thameslink timings don't work you could just do can from King's Cross to Victoria and train from there. Plenty of trains and shouldn't be too busy.

The Thameslink would be a good option if your DS would be ok with a train, they're rarely crowded especially in that direction and they're quite spacious. The seats are also quite high so you can kind of separate yourselves from anyone else. The journey into London from Sutton can be busier but again it depends on the time of day or week.

Taxinor bus to Waterloo. Southwest train to Sutton. Will be nearly empty.

Southwest don't go to Sutton.

agree with Thameslink suggestion, direct train from St Pancras (so you have to cross the road from kings cross); goes to Sutton. Nice trains which you can walk all the way through and there’s always seats. Otherwise taxi to Victoria and train from there to Sutton

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/11/2022 07:11

Uber says £40, but I came on to say Thameslink. It's a train, but just like a tube. Goes from St Pancras, dead easy.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/11/2022 07:12

St Pancras station is literally the next building to King's Cross station.

Whereisthehugeteddybear · 09/11/2022 07:14

Also with the thameslink trains to Sutton first class is decommissioned so you can sit in first class seats on a normal ticket

onemomentintime · 09/11/2022 07:15

Addison Lee is coming up with around £60. Thought it would be more. You can pre book on their app.

BendingSpoons · 09/11/2022 07:20

I'd guesstimate around £60 but the Thameslink is great. It's only busy for very brief periods in rush hour. Via Mitcham Junction is quicker.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 09/11/2022 07:23

Uber or black cab?

Acunningruse · 10/11/2022 10:33

Thank you so much everyone. In the past we've got the tube to Waterloo or Victoria to get the South west train so it's really good to know there's an alternative to using the tube so we will get the Thaneslink, thanks so much.
