Who's following?

I need to get to bed but wanted to hear from Pennsylvania/swing states before I do so.

Florida's lurch to the right isn't exactly a surprise, but it was a more of an assertive lurch than I expected.

I'd rather go to bed and wake up to bad news than watch it happen!

I don't understand America.

AutumnCrow · 09/11/2022 02:02

I can’t sleep so I’ll probably put the tv on low with the subtitles and see just how depressing it all is.

APJ1 · 09/11/2022 02:09

I'm following it, seeing all the Republican media villains like Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jim Jordan being re-elected. Very predictable but ugh.

I'm not in PA but I love John Fetterman (and his wife) and I'll be heartbroken if he doesn't win. I don't know that they'll report that state tonight though since they have a law that they can't start counting mail in ballots until Election Day (so no getting a head start counting the mailed ballots beforehand). It may take a while to get the results. So much at stake in all states in terms of abortion rights if the Republicans gain control of the state senates and houses.

I'm sitting up in the US watching the re-elected sitting governor of my state delivering his victory speech, having trounced the Trump-endorsed hayseed whose political ads are best described as execrable.

The governor shut the state down during covid, shut schools, shut restaurants, and saved lives. His opponent took him to court to challenge all of that and has now had his ass handed to him on a plate by the electorate.

knitnerd90 · 09/11/2022 02:33

The Christian Trump cultist in my state got roundly rejected as expected. I used to live in PA and watching those races closely. As well as hating Dr. Oz, the Republicans have put up an antisemitic election denier for governor who is widely expected to lose.

The biggest nuts like Gaetz, MTG, Jordan live in districts where they can't get booted. It's how they get to Congress in the first place. We're getting all the easy races first. None of the interesting ones will be in for a while.

APJ1 · 09/11/2022 02:37

My biggest ugh so far goes to Trump's sycophantic former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders being elected govenor of Arkansas.

You can bet that if the Republicans take the House, they'll avenge Trump's impeachment by conjuring up something to impeach Biden over.

Mymomsbetterthanyomom · 09/11/2022 03:17

I don't understand UK politics (I'm from the US) so I would never pretend to be fully informed re what politicians are running, why and their platforms.
If you think Fetterman is superior,I would highly suggest doing legitimate research.
As a fully informed and voting citizen,I am thankful of the results thus far.
But the night isn't over.

knitnerd90 · 09/11/2022 03:30

I can tell you right now, there's not a chance in heck I'd vote for Mehmet Oz, who has spent his career lying on television.

MyKidsAreNowYoungAdultsSahmWasTheBest · 09/11/2022 04:18

Research Sarah, she's incredibly informed and ready for the position.

Posting that she's incompetent etc only shows the lack of research and oftentimes bias bc she worked for Trump.
Sarah has strong and healthy policies and her own thoughts on preceding to make her State and country stronger.

She is a strong woman who somehow has been overlooked, until now.

MyKidsAreNowYoungAdultsSahmWasTheBest · 09/11/2022 04:24

Tell us how he has been untruthful and has offended you please. Just bc you can't vote doesn't mean you don't get an opinion.
But Oz is educated while Fetterman isn't sure what day it is.
Bless Fetterman's heart...He doesn't know what day it is but we are supposed to pretend that's ok......
IT'S NOT OK,NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT.
Your reply??

MyKidsAreNowYoungAdultsSahmWasTheBest · 09/11/2022 04:28

Really??
We will check ourselves for the truth and accuracy of results.
Interesting that US citizens actually read this huh...

MyKidsAreNowYoungAdultsSahmWasTheBest · 09/11/2022 04:33

You don't have to understand us Americans do you?
Go to bed.

Same. I was elated to read about the result.

A much better morning's news than I was expecting.

I have read up on her now and wasn't aware that she does have a lot of political experience. You can tell that I have paid too much attention to six years of Lefty tweets!

LanternGhost · 11/11/2022 05:18

I expected a red wave, losing the house by so little actually feels like a bit of a victory...at least some repudiation of insanity!
