To think it's okay for me to Facebook friend with an old school friend!

hear me out!

in my early thirties and at primary age I had this friend, let's call her Katie. We weren't close friends but friends absolutely. she moved away during our school.

a couple years down the line, my mother met and married my stepdad, my stepdad is Katie's uncle - her mum, my stepdad are siblings - you get the idea.

my mother is totally estranged from my stepdads family and my mother refuses to acknowledge their existence - they had some silly falling out and my mum doesn't forgive easily.

old school friend has added me as a friend, I honestly think it's nothing more than adding an old friend. I was friends with her on Facebook many years ago but I came off it and had a new Facebook since! We have lots of old mutual school friends.

my mums found out and thinks my stepdads niece is using me to find info about her uncle to feed back to the family (stepdad doesn't see much of them either).

but firstly there is not a single thing about my stepdad on Facebook, nothing recent anyway, in fact I didn't even post much about myself, secondly before we were 'kinda cousins' we were school friends. There's lots of pictures of us together at primary age pre my mum marrying her uncle! Admittedly she's my much younger half brothers and sisters cousin whom they haven't met! My old school friend was a still child herself when my mum married her uncle, the fall out is not her fault.

Even if she was fishing there's nothing to fish from my profile - I rarely post anything 😅
