If I accidentally drove through Heathrow drop off zone but didn't stop do I still need to pay the £5?

Just that really.
Driving near Heathrow and took a wrong turn and ended up driving through T5 drop off but didn't stop.
Will I still be fined (I assume yes).

Yep. We did exactly the same thing in the summer, missed the entrance to the long stay car park (rubbish directions from the meet and greet company), drove through and came home to a hefty fine (not 5 pounds either, I have a feeling it was maybe 35?). We appealed, sent copies of the long stay parking to prove we had parking booked etc, and they said we had to pay as there are plenty of signs stating the charges (unfortunately once you've missed the turning, short of reversing down the ramp, you're kind of stuck!).

The only thing we could have done was go to court. My husband was incensed and wanted to do that, but it probably would have cost us a lot more and the fine would have been bigger (I think it's 70, but 35 if you pay within 14 days, but don't quote me on the actual amounts).

We did that a few months ago and we emailed them with our car registration. They said our visit was already classed as a 'drive through' so we wouldn't be charged. We never received a fine.

I did this at gatwick and didn’t have to pay. As long as you’re seen to not stop.

Did this at Gatwick as we went wrong trying to find the valet parking. Received a letter but sent all info including car park booking etc and didn't have to pay.

Ridiculous imo - the entry and exit times were about 15 seconds apart - you couldn't have dropped off in that time. They are just chancers.

Dh did this at Gatwick in pickup area and did get charged £5, He then drove round and waited, a further £25!

Dh forgot to pay the £5, and then the fine, and then didn’t open further demands that came in the post until it ended up at £170.

We get taxis now.

Contact them immediately. If they record you as a drive through and you have contacted them, you are not charged

@Meh1957 - it happened in November 2022. OP has paid.

I did it and got stuck at the barrier to get out but just pressed the button and explained I went in by mistake
