Help. What’s wrong with my daughter?

My daughter bumped her head recently. Quite severely, giving her a black eye. She was well enough to stay at school. This happened 6 weeks ago and there is still a lump on her eyebrow where she bumped it. Six weeks and the bump is still there.

As well as that, she has a lumpy area next to her ankle that we are waiting to be x-rayed. The orthopaedic paediatrician has told us that it’s bone from feeling it, but I know no more than that.

I wasn’t feeling too worried, but I googled last night and all sorts came up. She’s seeing the GP soon and will be having her x ray done. But I’m just really worried now. 😢 She’s 6.

I bumped my head at the back on a hot tub (was drunk). The lump was there months later. My dd banged her head when she fell off the ladder on her cabin bed and it was there for ages.

My DC bumped her face on the cheekbone and it took ages for the lump to disappear (years).

I've got a massive lump on the side of my thigh from falling off a moped on my 16th birthday onto the corner of a brick.

Dr said it was just because it was such a big lump a haemotoma had formed where the blood clotted up and that's that, it won't break down but it's not harmful. I'm 39 now and it's never caused any issue.

My daughter fell at school a good few years ago and still has a noticeable bump in the middle of her forehead from it. Almost 3 years now. It doesn't seem to bother her, but as you're seeing the doctor for the ankle bump I'd mention the other too to be on the safe side

I remember my gran being like this after a fall. It took ages to go.

My daughter had a nasty head bump when she was 7. She’s 12 now and still has the bump on her forehead, it becomes more prominent if she’s tired or unwell - weird.

Thanks all. It’s reassuring to hear that others have experienced the same. That’ll help stop my mind going into overdrive between now and the GP appointment.
