My sister took my neice for the 6 week check yesterday, all perfect except for one thing....the GP did all the measurements for the charts and said that while everything else (weight, height etc) was on track, the babies head had not grown on the trajectory expected and was smaller than it should be.
She did not refer to paediatrician or specialist, but asked her to come back in two weeks to measure it again. She said not to worry about it, but of course my sister is very very worried about it.
The baby was small (6lbs) at birth and compact, but feeds well, is very alert, can hear and see fine and seems like a perfectly normal baby to all.
Has anyone experience of this and can advise? Do some babies just have small heads or is this an indication of a problem?
TIA
