Cost of living payment assessment period

Hello,

I'm just wondering about the cost of living payments and what it means by 'a payment of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022'

I'm probably being an idiot here but what does 'that ended in the period' mean 😂

We had an assessment period from the 17th of August to the 16th of September that was a nil award due to an unexpected payment my partner received through work. We qualified again for an assessment period between the 17th of September to October.

Would both assessment periods be taken into account or just the August to September assessment, as that one ended in the eligibility period.

Thanks!!

I'm afraid I think that means you will not qualify. It seems very unfair.

That's what we were thinking also. Damnit ! Thank you 😊

I don’t understand that, wouldn’t it mean if you received any payment within those dates?

You receive the payment about a week after your assessment period.

To qualify you need to have your assessment period to end between those dates and not have a nil award for that period.

So we would of just missed the period - we've been eligible all year it was just that one September we weren't. Bugger.

That's what I originally thought until I read somewhere about 'ended in that period'. Confusing but I thought I'd ask here 😅
