Was this a hot flush?

Hi.
I'm 45 and woke up in the middle of the night thinking i was having a stroke or something. I had a sensation from my head to my toes a few times. Like it came in waves. I was a bit dizzy. My forehead, back and hands were sweating. I was so frightened until I thought about it being a hot flush.
Is this what its like for some people?

I think everyone is different OP
Mine is a very sudden feeling of burning and heat
My back, back of neck and in between boobs would be soaking
The unnerving thing is how it happens so quickly and as you say can wake you up
You may find nothing happens again for a while but keep notes of dates when it does (along with periods) as this really helps when you feel its right to speak to doctor to see if hrt would be good for you x

Yes so unnerving. One minute I was fast asleep. The next I thought inwas having a stroke or something. In the middle of the night that's very frightening.
I will keep a record alright, thanks for the advice x

Doesn't sound like a typical hot flush, but everyone is different. I started with irregular periods, but my hot flushes felt like a wave of heat that spread through my body to my face.

This is exactly what I felt like - picture attached.
