PayPal taking donations without consent

I just purchased some shoes from Zalando and used PayPal as payment method. I've received the usual confirmation email but also received a second email from PayPal Giving Fund saying I had donated £1 to the Royal British Legion which was a complete surprise as I wasn't aware I had donated.

I don't mind the donation being made in principle but how did it happen? Anyone got any knowledge of this?

There is a tick box that you need to click to add the £1 donation at the checkout.
You must have clicked on it by accident I suppose.

I just got dog food from on buy and £1 was taken.
I didn't see or click any boxes.
Bit cheeky.
I'll have to keep my wits about me.
