Your favourite holidays with a baby?

Hubby and I are hoping to take our 3 month baby away to Bruges for her first holiday in December, then again to Dubai when she's 7 months old. The travel bug has struck so I'm wondering what your favourite/most successful trips have been with a baby?

We had two little ones and they were 2.5 and 20 months. It’s a lovely place for small children.

None. DC didn’t sleep at home and they were worse on holiday. I remember driving round the norfolk countryside at 1am trying to get dd to sleep and on another memorable trip to Greece I was up 15 times one night. I’m sure some people will come along and tell you their wonderful experiences. Good luck!

Probably Cala Dor and Cape Verde. We have 4 and they’ve all been away at least once before 5 months old. Poor DC3 then had a year break due to covid but they all travel well and usually fly 4/5 times a year.

Cala D’or is a short flight and really family friendly. Cape Verde; our hotel had absolutely everything we could’ve wanted and needed and the weather was amazing.

Quite outing:

around the balkans in a car (neither of us from there).
Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi (different trips).

South Korea.

random weekends in Europe.

all the above before 1.

Guernsey at 10 weeks (perfect temp)
Sicily at 3 months
Tenerife at 5 months

Norway was great. South Africa is super easy with kids. We had a great road trip around wales when DD was 6ish months.

DD is well travelled and loves to travel. It really is a lottery!

Florida and Dominican Republic were good (different babies but 11 months for Florida and 18 months for Dom rep) because it got dark early and light late, so sleep was ok once over any jet lag.

But my absolute total fave was Norway in November. Just for the vibe. So nice and cosy. Going to Copenhagen at Christmas with a different baby again (she’ll be 8 months. Obviously we still have the other babies but they’re big now 😄) can’t wait!

Went to Greece this summer with 4 month old. It was fine but bit boring really. DD didn’t like the pool much and so was just a bit of a pain trying to entertain her on the hard stone floor (villa) away from most of her toys at home. Slept fine though and easy flight!

Ds was 13 months, we booked a week in Torquay and amazingly had brilliant weather. Fab holiday. Ds loved the beach.

gogohmm · 07/11/2022 19:09

Took a fun us road trip when dd1 was 2 and dd2 was 5 months, but we did live there so used our own car

Pebble55 · 07/11/2022 19:18

Definitely a week skiing in Austria when the baby was 4 months old. We went with a group of childless friends and swapped childcare during the day and we all drank and ate at the hotel bar in the evenings together. We even took her to apres ski one afternoon. We could scarcely believe how enjoyable it was

Expectingfirstbaby · 07/11/2022 20:27

@NCFT0922 sounds lush! Which hotel did you stay at at Cape Verde?

Anything with a crèche

NCFT0922 · 07/11/2022 20:31

@Expectingfirstbaby the Riu Touareg in Boa Vista. Loved it.

DorritLittle · 07/11/2022 20:37

I went to French gites on the ferry with my babies, one at four weeks. Was lovely.
