Relocating with primary aged children. Any advice?

We are in the process of moving to Chester with two children aged 7 and 9. Its a big move from the other end of the country and everyone is a bit apprehensive. Just wondered if anyone had any guidance/tips/ positive relocation stories to share?

Ours moved severs times. They cope fine, if you let them. We did school introductory days, they chose their room decorations and bedding, we set up a few activities in advance and moved when there was lots else to think about (once on 23rd December). We arranged a couple of visits from friends we were leaving behind, but didn't go back ourselves until they were settled in new place. Pretty soon they realised they didn't belong in their old lives any more.

I've a good friend who moved her six children far more than us, including overseas. They are probably the most confident and happiest young adults I know.

Thank you! It looks like we may be moving close to Christmas, so hopefully that will add some excitement. We will be nearer family too, so fingers crossed that will help. They are very reluctant to.leave friends behind atm.
