Hi there we are going to London for winter wonderland and wanted some ideas what to do the following day we are going to jungle cafe first then wondered if anything else kids would like - sadly they don't want to see a show (gutted)

It’s very commercial in that area but there’s the M&Ms shop and Lego shops which are popular.

Also only a few minutes walk south to Trafalgar Square which is worth a look. You can see Buckingham Palace from the start of the Mall on the south side of Trafalgar Square.

Be careful in M&M world. Do not let them fill the bag to the top with M&Ms unless you have a spare £30 a bag!

Ask me how I know.

It’s about a 10-15 walk down Whitehall to get to Parliament & Westminster Abbey which the kids might be interested in, depending on their ages.

🤪
The thing is mine don't really like m&ms but I know this would happen

I can picture the scene 😬. We always use one of the plastic cups now.

The Lego shop is awesome and they can design their own Lego person and have is made,it's not too expensive and a very special souvenir, ours made themselves in Lego and loved it

Shortpoet · 07/11/2022 11:13

@workiskillingme Mine doesn’t like them much either. DH and I ended up ploughing our way through most of them!

EmmaStone · 07/11/2022 11:16

Lego Shop and M&M store popular here, but you're very close to loads of stuff going on - wander through Chinatown, Trafalgar Square (National Gallery/National Portrait), Westminster, Covent Garden...

I'd say the parlour or xmas afternoon tea at fortnums or the kid friendly afternoon tea at the dilly are good if you want a snack and sit down. There's a Wateestones with a nice kids section on the 2nd floor on Piccadilly, Carnaby is always fun, and there's the new light/screen art attraction which is close to marble arch, so not too far away.

Are you going skating at winter wonderland - if not there is also skating at Somerset House which isn’t far. You could walk there from Jungle cafe via Trafalgar Square and/or along the river. Covent Garden is also fun for a wander round, there’s the transport museum there which is good for little ones who love vehicles.

Or there’s Hamleys the opposite way (Regent St) but that’s a bit of a minefield !!

Especially if they then drop the bag, spilling half the contents over the floor AFTER it has been paid for! 🙄

Luckily they let us top it back up, and there may have been a few more in there than there was previously!

Shortpoet · 07/11/2022 11:23

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Oh bloody hell! Stuff of nightmares.

Lcb123 · 07/11/2022 11:27

the transport museum in Covent Garden is great for kids, or walk to Fortnum & Mason as they always have lovely christmas windows.

BooksAndHooks · 07/11/2022 11:37

Mine also like to do the mini statue trail on Leicester Square.

Croque · 07/11/2022 11:41

The Transport Museum is ten minutes walk away. You can go back as many times as you want in a year with the same ticket. Covent Garden Market is much nicer than hanging around Leicester Square. Otherwise, the Japan Centre fo good food or Prince Charles Cinema is great for older classics (if that is their bag)

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2022 11:55

I'm not keen on M&Ms but I love that shop!

workiskillingme · 07/11/2022 12:02

Change of plan
Going for Jurassic park afternoon tea at the ampersand balanced out by a free trip to the science museum 🙈
