Bin fresheners?

Hi, looking for recommendations for scented bin products please!

I really love the idea of the brabantia stick on scent patches, but it seems like they have discontinued them! You would basically attach it to the lid of your bin:

Bicarb with a few drops of essential oil. Just scatter a small amount in the bottom of your bin

Why does it smell? Do you not have to separate it all out where you are?

Bit pedantic. Yes, I have a kitchen bin that has separate compartments inside for household waste and recyclables. Likewise there are separate outdoor bins for household waste and recyclables. Very easy to separate it all out, thanks for your concern.

I live in an apartment and DH and I are not home much, it takes all week to fill up the non-recyclable compartment so any food waste is either just festering and oxidising there until it’s full enough to be emptied - or I don’t use the kitchen bin at all as I’m just going outside to throw food waste out directly. I’m sure any food waste has an odour, it’s not that remarkable lol

Honestly just get smaller bin and empty more often

Ok so it’s a food bin that’s smelling? What I did when we CD were back and forth so kept missing the food bin day was use those biodegradable food bin bags and tie it up and put it in a freezer drawer every evening. sounds crazy but scentless out of the way and a full freezer is cheaper to run so not totally bananas.

Obviously not an option if you’re renting, but if you own then an insinkerator garbage disposal is amazing as all the food waste goes down the drain.

Rotting bin a mixed with sickly scented air freshener is still going to be grim, speaking from experience of when we lived in a flat and tried it too. You just need to take it out more, even if it’s not full.
