I’m getting married on Saturday- what have I forgot?

We’re having a registry office wedding followed by a reception in a gastro pub\ small hotel- 30 guests, 25 adults, 5 children. We live a distance away but are travelling to my DM’s where the ceremony will be late on Tuesday. So I guess today’s our last proper day to do much. Everting feels spookily under control so I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve missed something major and am going to have a huge freak out the day before the wedding!

So, wise mumnetters, what have I forgotten or what should I do now it’s nearly upon us?

I am getting married next year, and the thing I have heard people forget are to pack clothing for the next day, unless you are planning on wearing a wedding dress it's probably a good idea to pack an overnight bag now!

Nutrigrainygoodness · 06/11/2022 18:06

Have you done all the official bits.
Paid everything
Flowers?
Clothes for next day

Clothes for the next day can’t be packed until I’m in my mum’s as I need the bag to take clothes in for now. I have them earmarked though! I also need to remember the bag/ hanger to bring my wedding dress back in!

Sounds lovely- congratulations! Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?

Needmorelego · 06/11/2022 18:19

You have got a groom haven't you 🤣

Blondbombsite · 06/11/2022 18:19

Official duties done
Everything paid for with the exception of the flowers because I don’t know how much they’ll be yet. My bridesmaid’s mum is doing them for us and has ordered them, she’ll know the total on Wednesday and is then bringing them to my mum’s on Saturday and dropping a cake stand that she’s decorating to the reception venue (we’re getting the cake on Friday and taking it down then when we go and decorate the room where we’re having the wedding breakfast.

I think that’s sorted, my bridesmaid’s are sorting some of it and I won’t be bothered if it’s not done.

Thankfully yes, but I’m sure I’ll be a bit worried on the morning as he’s spending the night before with his cousin 😬

Don’t forget your bra! Like I did. I was a jiggly mess that evening and the next day.

Willbe2under2 · 06/11/2022 18:27

As long as you have a groom, guests, food, booze and get the legal stuff done that's all you really need 😉

From a practical point of view have you checked if the pub have enough highchairs (if any are needed?)

Music?
Seating plan?

Willbe2under2 · 06/11/2022 18:27

Oh and congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful day x

Bouquet of flowers for DM and MIL Bridesmaid's gifts.

The rings? The vows? The CD for the registry office because they don’t have Bluetooth to play off a phone? The comfy shoes for after the ceremony? The cheap ivory umbrella from Amazon when you check the forecast?

Good thinking! I’m not wearing on on the day but absolutely will not be able to go without the day after!

Have you done activity packs for the children? My wife and I got married last week, and we had 6 under 10s in attendance. I bought an array of stickers, mini packs of coloured pencils, notebooks, and plain brown paper bags- mostly from home bargains and Wilkos. They were a big hit and kept little hands busy during the waiting bits. One small child charmed everyone at the wedding, including staff, by offering "well done" stickers. Almost all the adults were proudly displaying at least one sticker. It's a favourite memory already!

Nice/matching socks for groom and his best man / groomsmen? My dh had to do a quick run to M&S the morning of our wedding when he realized they had matching suits and shoes but hadn't considered matching socks...

Yes done. We’re not having a DJ but have made a playlist, we just need to go to the venue later in the week to check how we can connect it to their PA system.

They’re staying over with us the night of the wedding so thought flowers may end up ruined but we’ve ordered a potted plant to be delivered to them both on Monday. I gave the bridesmaids a small gift on the hen do, we’ve got a little present for the pageboys too, best man has been a waste of space so isn’t getting anything 😂

Confetti! Not many people bring their own these days, so if you want the confetti photos best make sure it's available. Congratulations!

Rings are in hand, we’ve done the checklist for the bows. We’ve got the ceremony music on a USB (actually 2) as they’ve said it’s acceptable. We’ve emailed them confirmation that we’ve paid for the music (and have confirmation).

Yes! My mum’s made them up and they look great. Instead of favours we’ve got thank you bags of things guests may want in their rooms (most are staying over) so water, painkillers, some snacks etc.

Also that sounds like such a precious memory! And congratulations 🎉

Kareoke sounds ridiculous but come late in the night people turn out to be hilarious or amazing singers

Change of shoes for the evening or next day is a big one

Some paracetamol

Just married flowers banners etc for the car in the morning

A guestbook

Underwear for the morning

Jewellery and hair stuff

Perfume

Gel pads for your shoes and Heel covers seriously heel covers if there's any mud or grass

Not yet. The best man has insisted that he doesn’t need a suit as he has lots that will match the colour of the groom’s, I’m still awaiting a photograph…. they’ve got their tie/ pocket square though.

I’ll make sure DF has packed his with his suit and that he doesn’t forget braces and cufflinks.
