Hello, dd is 10 & experiencing mood swings, episodes of sadness and anger/irritability/ thinking people are laughing at her.
I think something like oil of evening primrose, agnus castus or St John's wort would be really beneficial for her but she's too young to take it according to the labels.

Is there something you found helpful for a preteen?

Tia

I think you have to be careful at that age with not overdosing them - most of those supplements come in adult doses. Your best bet is to go for a good broad spectrum childrens multivitamin (like Bassets chewy ones or possibly Centrum Advance which they can take from 11 if she is a large 10 year old) and a childrens vitamin d supplement.

I would focus on the mental health issues in terms of why she’s feeling this way etc.

Magnesium supplement may help also.

Yeah I think the supplements that would help with those issues will only be licensed for adults.

I spoke to a nutritionist and the 2 supplements she recommends for pre-teens are vitamin D (with K) and omega 3. Obviously at a dose suitable for their age. But not sure those would have a huge impact on mood.

I think focusing on mental health and getting to the root of why she’s feeling this way is good advice.

The other thing I can think of at that age that could help is improving gut health as that has shown to have a positive impact on moods (as well as many other things). Would she eat probiotic yoghurts? Kefir? You can get probiotics (and prebiotics) for kids.

Floradix magnesium!
My son (12) is Autistic, and really hormonal and really struggling. I saw this mentioned on a group and went to our local health food store and got some.
There's been a definite improvement and it's helping him settle on an evening
