issues with a lawyer over my mothers estate

my mother passed away last year she had six adult children including myself because i was the only one there for her at end i was to get house her savings were to be split jointly after fees were paid

one brother wasnt happy about this claimed he was promised half of house and more money than the rest and that mother had supposedly claimed i had blackmailed her into leaving me house which there was no truth in but in january said he was going to contest the will

the lawyer thats dealing with the estate said this brother didnt have a leg to stand on said in january after this brother said he was going to contest the will he was going to continue with following mothers wishes as it was him who drew up will and he knew she was of sound mind when will was drawn and there was two independant witnesses that he brought to support this

he wrote to other siblings saying i had been left house and the money was to be split asked if there they were happy with this my understanding was there was no objctions from others. However the lawyer working on estate got a letter from my brothers lawyer (one contesting estate) in march asking for social workers name care companies name and my mothers gp they got those details within a couple of days. from march till september i frequently contacted the lawyer to find out what was going on as it seemed to be dragging out he never got back to me.

i eventually managed to speak to him in september he claimed he was to busy to spare a few minutes to get back to me but it seems the real was there was a hold up as the gp care company nor social work got back after there was a request for information so the lawyer said again that he would continue winding up estate get in touch with brothers lawyers tell them his intentions and put in a request to get title deeds to be changed into my name and said he would work out fees and get back to me the following week to say how much fees were and how much everybody should get this should have been end of september and he claimed it should only take a few weeks for house to be transfered

i contacted him three times this week he forgot he had told me it should only take a few weeks to transfer title deeds into my name for house now claims it should take longer but wont give me idea of how long he then tells me he will work out fees and email me on a specific day of week never happened (did that twice first he said he would email me wednesday then friday about fees but didnt get one)

ive told him i feel im being messed about and fobbed off but his response was to tell me that we have to work together to sort this this all out which seems strange as last time i spoke to him in september was at his office in an interview room said that it was a shame that there would be no more relationship with brother whose contesting will said i cant expect other brothers to be happy at me being left house even though they did nothing and i had said there was gossip from neighbours because of brother and couzin stirring i was told well people gossip it happens when we were done he just walked out leaving me sit there ive also told him because of this i suffer from anxietty but it goes in one ear and out the other but now he says he wants us to work together so i dont know how to deal with him im at my wits end

Hi op.

That was really hard to read and follow.
However it seems the solicitor is being very odd?

In my experience it seems that solicitors can take all the time they want over things that should take a short amount of time and they are absolutely not accountable to anyone.

There is no conduct or yardstick or anything,no time line to say...we will finsh this by x!
Yes of course legal stuff can get delayed etc but they use that as an excuse to take on too much work.

puddy to not respond to me for 6 months though to tell me whats going thats not right no matter how busy somebody is they can spare 5 minutes to get back to somebody if hes as busy as he claims then he shouldnt make promises that he will get back to me on such and such a date which hes done a few times then doesnt bother hes also made it clear that he thinks its unfair ive been left house which was explained by parents to him they had told him they didnt have a good relationship with my siblings i was the only one that was there for them theyre house was my home and they wanted me to have security rather than siblings coming along after they were gone me losing my home and god knows where id end up i dont think thats unreasonable the rest will hopefully get a few thousand each when things are sorted out so ive never understood that attitude
