Alternatives to Jelly-Cat, I want to get a soft cat toy

DS, at 10, is getting a bit long in the tooth to spend ££ on a cuddly toy but, as this is probably the last year, I want it to be a good one but am also not too inclined to spend more than I need to!

We do the often maligned Christmas Eve hamper with mostly food and wine, but traditionally also a game for us all to play and also a teddy. A holiday this year in Greece made him fall in love with cats and I like the idea of a cat one. I love Jelly-Cat but also wondered about other recommendations - we want soft, floppy, good quality, not clearly aimed at babies and, erm, also potentially available via Ebay.

Can anyone suggest anything...? (If it is also white and tabby, that's even better!!)

Manhattan toy company do some lovely soft toys - not sure if they have a cat though.

We have 2 of these and they are lovely

Have a look at Keel cuddle kittens (there are different ones). They have weighted paws and are lovely for cuddling .. DD has one of the dogs.

It's funny actually as I was just looking at them tonight to get another as DS and DD both argue over who gets to cuddle it every night!

You can get Mog cheaper else where by the way. JL was just the first website that came up.

Booksandwine80 · 05/11/2022 22:06

Oh mog 😍😍

ZooMemories · 05/11/2022 22:18

Wild Republic

greenbirdsong · 05/11/2022 22:27

My son has mog and it is so well loved. But then he is only 4!

How about pusheen the cat as an alternative.

Keel toys are great. My ds collects the dog versions. We have a lovely local chap who owns a shop that always lets me know the new ones when coming up to Christmas so I can choose one for ds.

The dogs are done based on real breeds. Ds may have around 40 or 50 of them by now in his cupboard.

WellWhoWouldHaveThought · 05/11/2022 22:35

How about a cat plushie like the ones by Kenji, they seem to be the thing at the minute and they’re very squishy and cuddly.

inappropriateraspberry · 05/11/2022 22:37

A cat squishmallow? May be a bit trendier than a realistic cat?

Manhattan toys lanky cat. Mine have one every year in their stocking so we have a lot of each colour. But it has become a tradition

Wrong thread 😂

Scrambledeggsontoasted · 05/11/2022 22:42

She's too old for cuddly toys at 10? I'm about to spend £40 on myself for a sleeping pokemon cuddly toy/pillow thing. There is no such age as too old for cuddly toys.

purser25 · 05/11/2022 22:44

I think ikea might do a cat. Worth looking in Charity shops as well. Lots of lovely soft toys. Could always do a quick wash in the washing machine.

Flyingbye · 06/11/2022 02:22

I was going to suggest a squishmallow too.

Thanks for this thread. I will have to look out for one of the Keel Toys ones IRL. DS chooses by texture and it's pretty hard to find anything that competes with Jellycat on that.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 06/11/2022 02:26

Living nature!
My son has the pine marten and it's so cool! Living nature toys
That have lots of choice and very good quality

Nat6999 · 06/11/2022 02:30

Keel toys, ds has a Bassett hound he had had since he was little & it is the most well loved toy you have ever seen 18 years later, he has a collection of dogs of all shapes & sizes.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 06/11/2022 02:31

Although living nature not floppy. Well pine marten isn't anyway.

I have a lovely doggy one my mum bought my son but he's never been played with. I'll check his label tomorrow but he's super cute and soft and floppy.

Chrisinthemorning · 06/11/2022 03:34

DS is also 10. His favourite you tuber is Half Asleep Chris, I might get Bella and Ralph plushies for him this year.
