Odd SMS (allegedly) from Health trust

just got a test message claiming to be from Sandwell & Birmingham Health trust that there is supposedly a document waiting for me to view. No contact details or context.

I'd have dismissed it as some sort of scam immediately. But I do live in the jurisdiction as our US chums sometimes say.

On the off chance it was amateur hour at S&B health trust, has anyone else had this. They are using a shady looking outfit called "Aceni".

Get texts like that from my health trust. Does it also say ‘reply PRINT’ if you can’t access the internet?

Also check your email if they have your email address. It does sound legitimate, are you expecting any appointments, or to be invited to make a general screening appointment?

Ours state our first names, too.

VeloHostage · 05/11/2022 18:09

No. Like I said, no contact details at all.

Generally the trusts I've dealt with (I have an interesting life) have moved heaven and earth to avoid email. I think phones are a bit too racy for them too.

I wonder if this is related to the recently announced death of the fax service in the UK ? That would probably do for UK healthcare for a decade.

These are ours, but it’s a different trust.

That's an NHS website. The one I was directed to wasn't. It's from a bunch of folk called "aceni". Who I have never heard of before.

Not a squeak on the S&B website, or Facebook Sandwell and Birmingham using these people.

www.swbh.nhs.uk/

I hear quacking.

(Mind you, my bank is pretty brain dead too when it comes to acting like scammers)

I get these - vague uninformative messages. I then get the actual useful info by post about 5 days afterwards.

I did try to set up my online account, but it asked for a ridiculous amount of proof of identity and address i cocked it up and the account is frozen until I go to my doctors surgery and sort it out. I had less hassle setting up my online banking!!

Yesthatismychildsigh · 05/11/2022 18:34

Most things between departments go electronically, along with the paper copies.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 05/11/2022 18:37

Looks like some trusts do use aceni. If you’re not sure though, give your doctors a call to check.

That just tells me that the outfit Aceni claim to work with NHS trusts, not quite the same thing.

I have a ludicrously high bar for trusting anyone, I'm afraid. (Possibly borne of experience). And I've yet to meet an outfit that can make me think that's my problem.

I posted here as if this is genuine, then statistically someone else under the S&B (amongst other) health trusts would have had one. Which would have been informative, if not conclusive. 😀

Your second paragraph speaks volumes. It’s definitely not a problem. I’ve been on a different thread tonight and the OP seems to be the complete opposite and that’s so sad. When you do get a definitive answer, please come and update, it may come up for someone else.
