Am on mirena coil and levothyroxine, appetite is huge

Could do with losing at least two stone

What would you recommend. Eating less and moving more just isn't cutting it. Eat meat and drink alcohol but have reduced these massively. Just wondered if anyone in similar boat.

Hoping there's a magic cure as always 😄

Here's what works for me. Track and log all calories. Weigh and measure food.
Eat low GI high protein some fat lots of veg.
Make sure my TSH is at the very bottom of the range. O.3-0.4
Build muscle.

Just out of interest OP, why do you mention the endometriosis?

JoelDommettsTux · 05/11/2022 22:45

Because of the treatments I've had for that, until last month I was on the coil and the pill to help with symptoms
Weight is all around my middle and seems to be harder to shift as endo is getting worse

How is your gut microbiome?
Aim to eat at least 30 different veg, fruit, nuts and seeds a week.
I find cutting right back on refined carbs and increasing protein and good fats helps. Eg:
-Greek yoghurt and nuts and seeds and frozen cherries for breakfast or 2 eggs, avo, smoked salmon or mackerel.
-Lentil and spinach Dahl for lunch
-Fish/ chicken and loads of veg for dinner
Add something fermented like Kimchee, proper saurkraut, kombucha every day if you can.
Cut right back on bread, make or buy sourdough rye if you can afford the time or money. I keep it in the freezer so just have a slice a few times a week.
I recommend reading Tim Spektor's new book food for life.

Me too! Endo- have not long finished 18 months of Zoladex injections which is when it was piling on my middle but also at same time was put on levothyroxine for under active thyroid. My hunger has gone through the roof- it’s a sicky hunger that I can’t ignore. I used to be able to do 16/8 fasting which really worked for me. Can’t do it anymore. The hunger feels different. I’ve been reading about saxender but then was told there’s an increased risk of thyroid cancer and with hassimotos already I didn’t want to risk. All around my middle. I’ll let you know if I find the secret. Need to up my swimming /exercise more I think.

Yes it's the hunger that gets me, it's like I will actually die if I don't eat even though I try to tell myself I can't be hungry based on calories in and out! So frustrating
