Husband has flu and I’m pregnant… nervous

I’m pregnant 13 weeks and husband has just been diagnosed with flu and is taking antibiotics
Has anyone else had flu whilst pregnant - I’m worried about getting it

Presumably you've had your flu vaccine so it will be mild if you do get it?

Dollydea · 04/11/2022 21:00

Antibiotics won't do a thing for flu?

Yes you're being paranoid, understandably so.

You & baby will be fine.

Wilkolampshade · 04/11/2022 21:02

Why is he taking antibiotics for a viral infection OP? Does he have a secondary infection?

Like others say flu is viral and antibiotics only work on bacterial antibiotics.

Haveitheright · 04/11/2022 21:05

Diagnosed with a swab or told he has ‘flu like symptoms’?
Flu vaccination protects pregnant women and the baby.
If you are concerned about being poorly can you stay away from him, sleep separately etc?

Try not to worry.

I haven’t had flu jab yet, ironically it’s booked 9th of this month
Yes they think he has an infection in his chest/back

Just come back from out of hours assessment and we have been told he has flu and they think an infection in his back or chest so doctor prescribed antibiotics

no need to panic at all just stay on top of hygiene xx

ofwarren · 04/11/2022 21:08

How did they test him for flu at out of hours? It's a swab test that takes a few days to come back.

honestly I’ve never had flu neither has husband so we don’t know what normal thing is, but doctor at hospital checked him over and done some testing and told us there and then that he has flu

Thank you everyone!
sorry, just a worried mama to be who has suffered losses before and worried getting flu could risk another loss x (not sure if it can or does, but I just worry)

Can you go and stay somewhere else?

If you do get it call 111/docs for advice and try to keep temperature under control with Paracetamol.

But you and baby will most likely be fine.
