Flies! Where are they coming from??

In the past couple of days I have found 3 flies buzzing around. No windows or doors have been left open. They seem to appear out of no where. Two were ridiculously big. And they are all rather slow and dopey if that makes sense. Easy to whack and slow / lazy to fly. I can't figure out where they are coming from. They've appeared upstairs in the bedrooms and bathroom, not downstairs in the kitchen where you'd think most flies would be.

Is there any way to help identify where these things are coming from and why?

Do you have a cat? If so, my guess would be a dead mouse somewhere.

No pets! All windows in the house have been replaced in the past couple of years, so no cracks / openings either. Haven't opened a window upstairs since mid August...

Well if they're not getting in they're hatching.

So a thorough clean and hoover will help, because you don't know where the eggs are.

Have you a fireplace?

We've got 4 ATM and they're dopey, fat and irritating. We're having an extension finished and I think they must be getting in through the extractor hole we've drilled.

No fireplace, nothing smelling like anything has died either. The only way I can think of them getting in would possibly be through the bathroom extractor fan in the main loo. Would this be possible? I've never had this problem before.

I'd say possibly cluster flies we get them - hang up some fly papers in your loft or the main room you have spotted them that should see the live ones off.

Buy a venus fly trap for your house, problem solved🙂

Its that time of year. The sun is out so it warms them up enough to fly but too cold for them to fly properly. They probably sneak in when you are distracted bringing in your shopping or kids.
